Service entrance design is coordinated with the utility company — they specify connection type, metering location, and clearances. Underground service requires a conduit sleeve under the foundation. Overhead service requires specific clearances from windows, rooflines, and grade.

Rule of Thumb
Coordinate service entrance location with the utility company at the very start of design — changing it later means moving conduit, meters, and panels that are already permitted and installed.
