A tube or pipe used to protect and route electrical wiring through walls, ceilings, and underground runs.
ποΈ
In the Field
Electricians run conduit before drywall closes in. EMT (thin-wall) is common inside; rigid galvanized or PVC is used underground. Always leave a pull string in every conduit for future wire runs.
π
Rule of Thumb
Add 10% extra conduit length for bends and offsets. Per NEC, a conduit should not exceed 40% fill of the conduit's cross-sectional area for conductors.
