Walk the punch list with the owner and architect together — disputes about what's deficient are easier to resolve in person than by email. Track every item with a responsible party and due date. A punch list that doesn't move is a payment that doesn't move.

A well-run project should have fewer than 50 punch list items per floor. Hundreds of items signal a quality control breakdown during construction, not just at the end.
