Cut Sheet
A list of stake locations with corresponding cut or fill amounts, used by equipment operators to bring earthwork to the specified grade.
🏗️
In the Field
The survey crew generates cut sheets from the design model and field-measured existing grades. Operators carry cut sheets in the cab. As each stake is hit, blue-tops are nailed at finished subgrade elevation. Cut sheets also list pipe invert elevations for utility contractors.

Rule of Thumb
Always verify the cut sheet date before using it — if the design has been updated, an old cut sheet will put grades in the wrong place. The surveyor should date and version every sheet.
