Calculate cut and fill volumes using the Average End Area method. Enter cross-section areas at each
station and the distance between them to get total volumes in cubic yards.
Station
Cut Area (ft²)
Fill Area (ft²)
+ Add Station Calculate Reset
How It Works Method: Average End Area Formula: V = ((A₁ + A₂) / 2) × L
A₁, A₂: Cross-section areas at each end
L: Distance between stations
Output: Cubic feet ÷ 27 = Cubic yards
Reading the Result Excess Cut — more material is removed than needed. You'll need
to export or waste the surplus.
Import Required — not enough cut material to fill. You'll
need to bring in borrow material.
Balanced — cut equals fill. Ideal for mass haul efficiency.
